Doing Embodied Mapping/s: Becoming-With in Qualitative Inquiry

Qualitative research often involves the collection of data from multiple sources, inclusive embodied and multisensorial. These differing that are not language based, pose difficulties for researchers. Often this multimodal is collected alongside interviews, field notes other language-based then translated into language. In process translation, embodied, relational, multisensorial aspects lost. To address issue, we created E mbodied Mapping/s (EM) as an approach collecting, analyzing becoming-with non-language-based data. This doing mapping/s about fixing lines encounters in order to produce a two-dimensional cartography, plan or model; on contrary it exploring embodiments material relations among people things create new inquiry methodologies. Embodied suggests need more holistic exploration qualitative methodologies beyond visual communication. Through centralising embodiment, only analytical method but also something informs innovative methods, these doings offer novel evidence mapping/s, two multi-sited case studies Canada will be explored—the Canadian War Museum Ottawa; Human Rights Winnipeg, advance methodological insights relation research.
